Nathalie Wierdak Carlesso

I’m a Teaching Fellow in the Management Department of the Otago Business School, responsible for undergraduate Management courses and the supervision of Masters students’ research projects in Sustainable Business.

My grandfather on my father’s side Antonius Wierdak was from Krosno, and relocated to Ancon – Ecuador around the 1920s to work in the Oil industry. I was born in Guayaquil – Ecuador and lived for many years in Caracas – Venezuela. I moved with my partner to New Zealand in 2015 after receiving a job offer from Otago Museum to work as a Science Engagement Manager. As part of the Museum’s climate change programme, Far from Frozen, I worked in close collaboration with the NZ High Commission and Climate Change Offices in Niue, Cook Islands, Tonga and Fiji, taking the exhibition to those communities that would be most affected. I also have experience in managing projects for the European Commission Youth in Action programme and United Nations University, forging connections between students and academics across international borders.
