‘Early Polish Settlers of Auckland’ exhibition
Part of Auckland Heritage Festival 2022
This year the Polish community celebrates 150 Years of Polish settlement in New Zealand. Discover colourful family histories and stories of fore-running Poles and Prussian-Poles who settled in Auckland in this exhibition. Discover Polish forerunners who lived in Auckland, including a linguist, a tailor and a prince’s son.
Two interesting facts
- Lubecki’s father was a prince descended from the famous 9th century Norman Prince Ruric.
- An eminent member of New Zealand society, Lubecki left a considerable number of bequests to charities totalling approximately 8,600 pounds in 1926.
